In 1851, the census shows George Brinton (b.1822, Southampton) living at Florance Villa in South Stoneham. He was a House Builder. He was married to Anne (b.1825, Poole, Dorset) and they had two children living with them, Ann L. (b.1846, Shirley, Southampton) and George (b.1848, South Stoneham).
Two staff lived with them, a housekeeper and a nurse maid.

In 1861, the family were still living in South Stoneham. George was a builder employing 21 men. Ann Louisa, George, Alice (b.1852, Portswood), Frank (b.1854, Southampton), Alfred John (b.1855, Southampton), Mary Louisa (b.1858, Portswood). All but Mary were scholars.
They had two staff, described as house servants.
